What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is the practice of paying more attention to the present moment, which includes paying more attention to one’s thoughts and feelings, as well as the world around.
By becoming more aware of the present moment, we can know ourselves better and become happier due to enjoying the world more.
Mindfulness can help look at things afresh, and also notice harmful thoughts or behaviour patterns, to stop us from engaging with them.
Hence, it can also assist in letting go.
Mindfulness based practices include breathing exercises, guided meditations, nature therapy
and journaling.
My guided sessions provide a good introduction if you are new to mindful meditation, or a supportive environment for those who have practiced before.
Why join a guided mindful meditation session?
Mindful meditation addresses the need for stress reduction, improved mental clarity, and emotional wellbeing in participants. In our busy, tech-heavy world, individuals often experience high levels of stress, anxiety, and difficulty focusing on the present moment.
Mindful meditation provides a solution by offering a practice that cultivates mindfulness and awareness of the present experience. It helps participants develop skills to manage stress more effectively, increase their ability to concentrate, and regulate their emotions.
Through regular practice, mindful meditation can alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression, promote a sense of calm and inner peace, enhance self-awareness, and lead to an overall improvement in mental and emotional well-being. It serves as a valuable tool for individuals seeking balance, clarity, and a stronger connection with themselves and the world around them.
you can attend an individual session or multiple retreats - it's up to you!

What is
Mindful Meditation?
Mindful Meditation is about taking a step inward, away from worries about the past or the future. Most meditation practices involve paying attention to one thing. Examples include paying attention to your breath, focussing on a object, repeating a phrase or mantra and noticing physical sensations.
More than just a way of finding inner calm, research suggests that Mindfulness can have a positive effect on mental health conditions including stress, anxiety and sleep deficiency. A good way to start is to participate in guided meditation, where instead of being left to your own devises, you are led on a journey to help you to relax. In my classes and one-to-one sessions I will guide you through practices to help slow down racing thoughts, let go of negativity, and calm both your mind and body. All welcome.

How to be Mindful
For some useful tips on how to be mindful and some mindful exercises to try, check out these suggestions from Mind
Here are a few mindful meditation tips to try out for yourself:
-
Find a quiet space where you will not be distracted or interrupted. This might be inside or outside in nature
-
Turn off your phone and other devices
-
Choose a time to suit you – perhaps first thing in the morning or just before bedtime
-
Focus on your breath whilst breathing naturally, not trying to change anything
-
Accept that you may find it hard to focus at first – the more practice you get, the easier it becomes
-
Don’t panic if negative emotions bubble up – this is natural
-
If you mind wanders, just bring your attention back to your breath and don’t worry – it’s what our minds do
-
Start by practicing for 10 minutes a day for 10 days and see how you feel
-
If you find it beneficial, you can progress to mindful meditation Apps or join a face to face class for a deeper and lasting experience.
